About Jamal Smith | Audio Engineer
I’m Jamal Smith, founder of J4 Audio, where creativity meets technical excellence. My journey has been shaped not only by a lifelong passion for music but also by nearly eight years of service in the United States Air Force and a professional career in cybersecurity and information technology. Those experiences sharpened my attention to detail, discipline, and problem-solving skills — qualities I bring into every audio project I take on.
With over 15 years of live performance experience and advanced education and training in audio production, I specialize in mixing, mastering, and music production, while also providing expertise in podcast production, sound design, voiceovers, and professional recording for commercials, films, and multimedia projects.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with local artists, studios, and corporate clients, always tailoring my approach to the unique vision of each project. Whether I’m helping to bring a song to life, producing/enhancing podcast content with editing techniques, or designing audio for film and video games, I combine technical precision with creative intuition to craft audio that resonates.
Music has always been at the heart of my journey. As a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, and piano), I approach projects with both the ear of a musician and the expertise of an engineer, ensuring every detail is intentional and every sound tells a story.
